I don’t think I’m too far off the rocker when I say I think tiny puppy clothes are super cute, totally adorable, and just about the most ridiculously ballin’ way you can dress up your little dog!

So you can hear someone else’s perspective on the matter, though, my friend Elle from New York City is going to share her thoughts on these little puppy clothes. She’s a chihuahua owner who owns a lot of small puppy clothing and has more chihuahua clothes outfits than anyone I know–and I know a LOT of dog clothing nutbags, so that’s saying something!

Elle brings a unique perspective to the tiny little world of mini puppy clothes, and I think you’re going to enjoy hearing from her, so we go:

Alright, so I dress my dogs up A LOT. I go out into the city to run my daily errands and I take my dogs with me whenever possible. I talked at length about that in my last post and how that can lead to you meeting a lot more people of the opposite sex!

But today, I want to talk briefly about how little dog clothes can lead to all sorts of people from all walks of life and different situations being a lot more friendly and nice toward you and your little doggies. I’ve noticed that whenever I head out with my tiny doggies and I have them bundled up in their cute little chihuahua clothes, people tend to approach me and by dogs with a more relaxed and friendly vibe than when my dogs are with me but they’re going au naturale or when I’m out on my own, alone!

Whether my four little puppies are wearing their cute little dog t-shirts or they’re wearing their haute couture dresses and outfits, or they’re just wearing their cute little, silly costumes, there’s definitely something to these tiny chihuahua puppy clothes that has a magical effect on most people. People see these tiny puppy clothes and it makes them feel good for some reason, and that translates into them treating and and your doggies and the situation with more love and care! It’s a little bizarre, but it works, so I’m not going to mess with it!

And I notice this happening pretty much everywhere we go. If I’m out with my dogs and they’re wearing their little bitty puppy outfits, people are just more friendly to us. When my dogs are wearing their irresistible small doggy clothes, people go out of their way to do things for us more often, like opening the door and letting us go first and take cuts… it’s great! These tiny clothes for puppies come with a lot of social benefits, that’s for sure!

When my little chihuahuas are sporting their latest small puppy clothes, people just approach us with a more happy, friendly energy. Often times, they’ll come up to my little dogs in their small puppy shirts and start talking to them before me, which can be a little annoying at times, I’ll admit. But usually it’s cool, and I understand: the tiny puppy sweaters and little dog outfits my little guys wear ARE pretty freaking adorable, and I know there are definitely times when I find it difficult to contain myself when I’m out walking my dogs and we pass by other dogs that are dressed up like nobody’s business! I do sometimes talk to the dressed up puppies first… I guess I’m really talking to and complimenting the owner, but I’m playfully masking it as though I’m sweet talking the tiny puppies!

I even notice my doggies get the special treatment at the vet’s office when they’re wearing their cute little chihuahua clothes. The vets just approach them with a more friendly, patient energy, and that definitely helps make the vet experience easier.

So definitely try out tiny puppy clothing on your little guys. These little outfits really seem to invite levity and friendliness into a lot of different social situations involving complete strangers, and that can be very useful at times and just plain more enjoyable, other times. If you’ve got a maltese and you take him to the office and he’s got little clothes on, everyone is going to want to come over and pet that dog. If you’re walking along the street on a little walk with your dog, and you pass by other dog owners, they won’t be able to keep from gushing about how cute your dog looks. If you’ve got a yorkie and you dress him up in tiny outfits for yorkies, and even if you’re just at home and you have guests over who have just popped in, they’re not going to be able to resist bending down and petting your little dog and commenting on how cute your little furball is!

I’ve really been noticing lately that there are few things as irresistible as a little dog wearing small dog clothing. This fashion is everywhere today, and it’s wedging its way into the culture one outfit at a time. You’ve got shirts for little dogs, you’ve got smaller dog clothes for the little breeds like chihuahuas, you even see them showing up in the movies more and more as our pets share the spotlight with their human actor counterparts. And you’ve got online boutiques with dog clothing popping up left and right, with new ones every week it seems.

These dog clothes take the natural cuteness of these little dogs and they amp it up… it’s like chicken soup crack for the adorable dog’s soul! These little dog outfits make it nearly impossible for anybody to ignore your dog, so I definitely don’t recommend them if you’re trying to keep to yourself and you’re having a crappy day or something and you just want to be left alone–do not dress up your dog in small clothing in this case because everyone is going to want to come over and talk to you and it’s going to be a situation where the two of you become an attention magnet.

That said, if you do want attention, there’s nothing that breaks the ice more consistently and easy than chihuahua clothing on a little dog. Even as someone who thought it was ridiculous, small dogs wearing their funky fashion apparel was very hard to resist commenting on, either to my friend I was with or directly to the owner herself. There’s something about these little dog outfits for small dogs… they’re adorable, they’re cute, they’re cuddly–it’s INSANE!

So small dog fashion is everywhere these days, and even though it’s slowing down with the economy a bit, it’s still very much thriving. You’ll see the summer dog shirts for smaller dogs everywhere now as the chihuahuas and yorkies get out more and walk more on the streets now in the sunlight of the summer days and they shed the heavier dog costumes like the coats and sweaters in favor of the lighter shirts and summer fashion.

Over the past few years, I’ve worn a lot of chihuahua clothes, and my owner usually does a great job and buys just the right dog sweater for me from the pet boutique, and it fits like an oh-so-comfortable glove! On the rare occasion, he’ll miss the mark a bit and pick out a small dog costume for me that just isn’t up to my princess standard, but I know he means well and I do my best to wear all of the clothes he buys for me and the other chihuahua puppies in this house with pride!

What my owner doesn’t know is that me and the other little doggies in this house like to surf around online when he’s gone, on the dog clothing stores, checking out what’s out there in the pet stores today, and recently we’ve been spending a lot of time cruising through the chihuahua outfits shop. It sure does have a lot of variety in the types of fashion available for us little dogs, and we sure do like the designs!!

We actually had a vote amongst our furry selves this morning and voted on our favorite chihuahua outfit we can find online right now, and over half of us chose an article of clothing from that chihuahua shop! Michelle has worked very hard on setting it up, talking about “C-Name redirects” and all this other computer mumbo jumbo that is WAY over our little furry heads! We may not understand how it works, but I for one sure do like the store and all the little dog fashion available for us, now!

I’d have to say that of all my clothes, it’s probably my little chihuahua track sweater that I cherish the most. It is so comfortable and warm to wear, especially when you live down here in Mexico in the summer time and your owner runs the AC during the day while he works! I get to stay nice and comfortable in the artificially cooled room here, instead of shivering and shaking like a wet monkey the way I used to when I’d spend my time lazing around indoors!

Being a chihuahua is usually a fairly fun life, but it can get a little unpleasant when you have to face the crazy micro-climate that exists down near the floor when you’re not even a foot tall! The cool breezes that blow through the open doors, the little gusts of wind that whip around down here–you wouldn’t believe it! Having little chihuahua outfits like sweaters and coats and shirts keeps me warm, and the dog costumes and other fun fashion that my owner picks up for me makes life fun and playful when it’s time to unwind and enjoy ourselves! I’m very lucky to have my owner, and I’m so glad he thinks of me when he buys these little dog outfits for me! Oh!–I can hear his car pulling into the driveway!
