There’s something about puppies, isn’t there?–that just begs you to dress them up in cute little puppy clothes! A few years ago, I would have laughed at the notion. But now I’m a puppy fashion convert: I dress all of my little doggies up in the latest puppy couture and my foster puppies in their little puppy dresses and coats for dogs, and the whole bit. It’s a bit of a puppy clothing circus in my house these days, but there’s nothing like having fashionable puppies running around by your feet that you know are more comfortable and warm during these winter months! And even when it’s warmer out, young dogs are always cuter when they’re sporing a little pet haute couture, aren’t they?!

I’ve been shopping around, looking for the best puppy clothes that I can find for my little dogs for a while now, and some of my favorite places to find them include GlamourDog.com, the Posh Puppy Boutique, PamperedPuppy.com, the Yuppy Puppy Boutique, G.W. Little, and our very own Chihuahua Shop. All of these places have some great clothes for puppy dogs, and they all have quality service, in my experience.

The most popular clothes for puppies definitely fall into into one of two categories: the fashion category; or the practical, warm one. The flashy, glamour puppy clothes like the dresses for pups and the fashion t-shirts that you can customize and personalize in stores like Chihuahua Shop have always been a hit with puppy lovers. As you’ve probably noticed, small dog owners seem to really love pampering their pooches by dressing them up and making them super adorable for all their friends to see!

And the other type of puppy clothing–the puppy coats and jackets and sweaters for these younger dogs–are also big with new dog owners. Puppies tend to get cold more easily than older dogs that are bigger and that have more developed immune systems and thicker coats of fur, and so puppy owners tend to dress up their puppies in these warm clothes to keep them warm and more comfortable, as a kind of weather protection for them.

Dog owners do sometimes also fall for those ultra adorable puppy costumes for smaller pet dogs, but those are mostly seasonal and confined to the holidays: you don’t see a lot of puppies walking around outside with costumes on, unless you have really fun friends who like to play around with their pup’s fashion and get a laugh out of people with some unusual and creative clothing for their puppies!

In my opinion, the best puppy clothes are found in the online dog clothing boutiques. The above mentioned dog clothing stores are great places to start. Of course, you can always check out your local pet stores and see what puppy outfits they carry. The advantage with that is that you’ll usually be able to bring your pup in with you to actually try the clothes out on, right there in the store! But you might find the selection rather limited compared to the variety of clothes for puppies you’ll find on the internet once you start searching. So have a look around, find those perfect puppy clothes for your young little doggy, and, of course, have fun with this cool dog fashion!

My two chihuahuas are looking rather spiffy in their winter chihuahua coats. Namaste, my model chihuahua, is not exactly fond of the snow, but she’s getting used to it again. Slowly.

Exciting News: I’m completely renovating the main page of this little blog so that when you first visit, you’re going to see a concise catalogue summary of my very favorite chihuahua clothing from all of my favorite online dog clothing boutiques. I’ve been searching around for months, collecting my top picks and the very best of the best clothes for these little dogs, and I think you’re going to love what I have in store for you. I’m working hard to make things easier for those of you looking for the coolest, most stylish and fashionable chihuahua clothes, and I think you’re going to LOVE the new home page of our site, here, once I’ve got it up and running in just another day or so. So be sure to stay tuned!

In other news: I’ve added the Facebook commenting system to the site, so feel free to add your two cents to any posts on the site as your real self. I think the Facebook system ads a personal touch that is much more meaningful than the standard, anonymous commenting system, so I really encourage you to use it over the standard blog commenting thing (which I’ve still left up for you to use if you want), if you have a Facebook account.

This year, I’m going to be adding a lot more content and putting more emphasis on video and audio reviews of new small dog clothing and outfits for chihuahua dogs, so things will be getting a bit more interesting on here. I know that I like to write a lot and that some of these posts can get a little long-winded, so I’m going to be making the switch to video and audio more often to make things a bit more entertaining for you! Hopefully it will break up the monotony of the solely text-based posts I’ve been putting out on this site for the past year

Dog clothes are everywhere today, and whether you’re into chihuahua dog clothes or you’re more a cute dog clothes shopper, it’s these stylish dog clothes that dog owners are flocking to today. My neighbors, and all the pet owners of the little beach town I live in today is going gaga when they shop dog clothes online, and I’m lucky enough to get to see all this chihuahua clothing and these funky dog clothes on their little pets all the time!

Dog clothing does have its detractors, though, and while I think chihuahua clothing is totally fabu and that dressing up your dog in the most fashion-tastic designer dog clothes can be a lot of fun and a very good thing, not everyone feels the same. There are people who completely scoff at the very notion of dog fashion, and believe it to be cruel to dress a dog in an extra layer of fur.

Dog Clothes – Is There A Downside?

I think we have to respect their doggie clothes opinion, because not all of use have seen dog dresses and dog coats used in the same way. I know I have personally seen small dogs wearing heavy, thick dog clothes in the middle of the searing summer, when they’re out in the summer sun and the heat is bearing down on their and their small dog clothes, and that’s not at all cool in my books.

I think this goes without saying, but in terms of dog outfits, you have to use common sense with these little dog clothes, and dog clothing for all breeds of pet dogs. If you’re going to shop for new dog clothing at the Chihuahua Shop, or wherever it is that you buy your toy dog clothes, then please please PLEASE make sure you clothe your dogs responsibly and that you’re not going to make them wear dog clothes out in the sun and cause them to suffer in the heat!

Taking inventory of our pet clothes for dogs at the Chihuahua Shop yesterday, I couldn’t help but have a smile on my face! This chihuahua dog pet clothing is so freaking cute, I could almost explode! I usually get pretty excited when I’m shopping for chihuahua clothes and pet clothes for dogs that are a little bigger, but it’s always so fun checking out the Shop because their dog pet clothing is second to none.

As the owner of a shop that sells small pet clothes for dogs, I have to keep up on the latest trends. But not just because I have to keep the Chihuahua Shop updated: my neighbors in the little beach town I live in are chihuahua obsessed and they have more pet dog clothing and little chihuahua pet clothes for their tiny dogs than you can shake a bone at. I’m telling you: if you combined all of the pet clothes for dogs in this chihuahua town, you’d literally have a small mountain of chihuahua clothes on your hands!

Maybe it’s because Sayulita was the town featured in the first Mexican scene of Beverly Hilly Chihuahua, that cute dog movie with all the dogs wearing pet clothes for dogs, and then neighboring Puerto Vallarta was featured for even more time, later on in the film. But wherever the pet dog clothes craze comes from in this town, I am constantly surrounded by little dogs wearing these cute pet chihuahua clothes, and they almost can’t be ignored! If you like watching little dogs prance around in pet clothes for dogs, then not only would you enjoy going on a shopping spree for pet clothes for small dogs, you’d most likely enjoy coming down to this funky, bohemian surf town and just watching all the chihuahuas prance around the town plaza in their pet clothes for chihuahuas with their loving owners!

Pet Clothes for Dogs: The Current Trend

I’ve spent a lot of time observing the pet clothing for dogs on this part of the planet, and what I’ve been seeing over the past year is that dog owners are tending to buy the more stylish, fashionable pet clothes for dogs, right now. In the past, the pet clothing for little dogs that sold hand over fist every time were the practical outfits: the coats, the chihuahua sweaters, the pet clothing for chihuahua dogs that were designed to keep your little pets warm.

And from what I see, the entire pet industry of chihuahua clothes for dogs is not only moving more in this direction, now, it’s accelerating in that direction, toward the chihuahua dresses and the chihuahua pet fashion costumes, and all these flashy pet clothes for dogs that make your dog look adorably cool and trendy.

Now, the standard dog clothes and those funny pet clothes for dogs that make you pup look like a bumble bee or a lion are still out there, and they’ll be around for a long time to come. But I think the major innovations and the new creative focus of pet dog clothes designers is going to be on the funky fashion pet costumes for dogs, and that the latest and greatest pet fashion is going to be coming out of that end of the dog clothing spectrum.

I’ve been seeing a lot of teacup chihuahuas dressed up in teacup chihuahua clothes lately. The seaside town I live in is already abundant with dog owners who love chihuahuas, but it seems that nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, and now more chihuahua owners are moving in. The small dog clothes at the Chihuahua Shop are perfect for these little buggers, as we carry an extra super small size for these tiny teacup chihauhua dogs who have owners who need to dress them up in their adorable chihuahua clothes on a daily basis!

Take this little teacup chihuahua for example:

Now, he’s pretty cute on his own, but even with some cheap teacup chihuahua clothes, he would look WAY cuter! Throw in some little dog accessories, maybe a few chihuahua dog dresses, and then a cute chihuahua costume that makes him look like a little lady bug or something wildly irresistible like that and I don’t think anyone with a camera who likes little dogs would be able to unglue their camera lens from your dog and their finger from the shutter button! Seriously, you would have a chihuahua fashion cuteness overload problem on your hands!

Just on a boat ride the other day to this little rock island where there’s some good scuba diving around where I live, there was this guy in the boat with a teacup chihuahua that was wearing this floral dog dress set that was almost too much. It was part Hawaiian shit, part ball down, and this little long haired teacup chihuahua looked so comfortable and at-ease and relaxed in her little dress set, as the boat rocked up and down over the crashing waves! It was surreal!

Then, when we got to this rock island, there was another person I’ve seen shopping at the Chihuahua Shop who had her teacup out with her, wearing this designer pink and white dress set that looked perfect for the part of the doting little pet, following her master back and forth on the little island of rocks. She was too cute!

Chihuahua clothing like this, when it’s worn by a micro teacup chihuahua, is almost dangerous because of how fragile these dogs can be and how much attention they attract from strangers. Especially kids here in Mexico, in a culture where dogs aren’t normally regarded in the same manner that we do in the US or in Europe or Thailand or the other parts of the planet that have a more humane mindset when it comes to dogs (of which there are many–I know–but I can only list so many ) the kids like to just grab whatever passes in front of them, and if they’ve seen their dad kick the dog at home one too many times, they’ll often try to do the same. It’s really not a good place to be a dog, down here in this country, unless they’re living with the right owner and taken care of!

Anyway, dressing your teacup chiwawa up in dog clothes, even when you’re in Mexico, isn’t usually a problem. And if you think it will be, you can always select one of the beautiful designer teacup chihuahua carriers the Chihuahua Store carriers, to help you transport your chiwawa around with you from hostile environment to hostile place!

Of course, if you really want to take that chihuahua fashion diva effect your little teacup dog will have when wearing her clothes and take it up a notch, you can adorn her with teacup chihuahua accessories and use a little teacup chihuahua harness to parade her around town to show her off to all the other animal lovers wherever you live!

On the more practical side, most teacup owners I know own at least a few teacup chihuahua sweaters for their little pup. These tiny dogs tend to get cold very easily and can often use that extra layer of “fur” to help them stay warm when it cools off for whatever reason. I had the chance to meet with an old friend from Morocco last week who designs pet clothing for dogs! He has seven small dogs of his own back at home and he’s over here in Mexico to get some ideas for an upcoming line of chihuahua clothes he plans to release before the holiday season. I showed him the dog clothes we carry at the Chihuahua Shop and he got very excited about the whole thing.

Apparently, my Moroccan dog outfits designer is looking for a store to distribute he new chihuahua outfits line to when they’re finished and it’s time to put them on the backs of the little chihuahuas around the world. And he would like to bring his future line of small designer dog coats and chihuahua dresses to our Chihuahua Clothes Store!

And this makes me very excited because if I know anything about my friend, it’s that he’s a stickler for quality and he will not compromise anything for it. I’ve seen some of the small dog sweaters and pet jackets for chihuahuas and other little doggies he has made before, and they were stunning! He dressed his own little chihuahua pack at home and then left the house with his doggies following him, as a walking advertisement for his line, and it was like watching art in motion… on different sets of four tiny legs. You have to admit: it’s hard to beat a chihuahua or a yorkie or another type of small dog when it comes to finding an attractive billboard to get your message out there!

My Moroccan friend tells me he’s interested in designing some new dog raincoats for chihuahuas living in the rainy season with their owners, and he’s certainly in the right place to do his research. Right now in this zany chihuahua town, it rains every day like a monsoon!

Pug clothes have got to be the truest sign that the universe has both a sense of humor and an adorable sense of fashion. That’s probably why we added some of the best pug clothing I’ve seen anywhere to the store, along with the fact that these clothes for small dogs are among my absolute favorite pet fashion outfits of all time! As someone who works in the pet fashion industry, I’ve seen a log of cool, funky accessories for dogs and chihuahua clothes that can make any teacup chihuahua look so cute it could kill you, but clothes for pugs usually take it even further because they’re combining with those fantastic wrinkles, and render your little dog an adorable rump of wrinkled fashion dog fun! Haha!

A have a friend who is literally obsessed with clothes for pugs. She has four pugs she calls her own, and she’s given them each a style of their own. Each pug dog has its own wardrobe with specific clothes he or she wears, and, according to my friend, they each have their own preferences as to which do clothes they like to wear. I almost died laughing the first time my friend related this news to me, but then I stepped into her apartment for the first time and I simply couldn’t laugh: I was too blown away by the portal I had just walked through when I entered through the door and into this world of PUG. It was overwhelming.

Two of the little wrinkled beasts were wearing designer pug dog jumpers, looking ready to run a marathon at any instant! Another one was wearing is pug fashion outfit that looked like pug clothing from the Lady Gaga line or something outlandish and otherworldly: it had these crystal pieces jetting off of the back and shoulders of the dog, making it look like Gaga’s “Poker Face” costume, only adapted into a little pug pet fashion!

And the last pug had on this funky neon pink dog vest underneath two layers of pug coats. I asked my friend why on earth her pug was wearing so many layers when it’s well known that pugs can overheat so easily. Apparently, this guy loves to hang out with his owner in the air conditioned bedroom in her apartment, but he freezes and starts shivering without the clothes. Hence the pug with the nearly onion-layered pet apparel!

I’m really not sure how I collected so many friends that are all into small dog clothes to this degree. Believe me: there are many, and it almost freaks me out when I think about it… how exactly did this happen?? It must be that secret thing and “the law of attraction,” lol.

It’s always fun when new dog cloths come in to the Chihuahua Clothes Shop and I get to offer a new line of small dog clothes to chihuahua owners and people with other breeds of small dogs! This week has been a blast for me because with the arrival of the new customizable dog T-shirts, anyone can make their own personalized dog clothing for their precious little dog and have some fun thinking about what message they want their dog to walk around with!

I’ve had a few people emailing in, telling me they love their doggie’s new chihuahua clothes for dogs with their personalized message on it. They send me the photos and it’s always so cool to see happy customers!

Over here on the beach in Mexico, I get to see a number of small dogs wearing doggie cloths out surfing almost every day. Surfers take their little dogs with them out on the board, paddling out to the waves, and then they ride in on the waves with their little dog on top of the surf board! It’s awesome:

A lot of these beach dogs who spend a lot of time in the water wear white doggie clothing, with their owner wanting to protect their pet’s skin from the intense UV rays from the sun. It’s a smart move because a lot of small dogs like chihuahuas have these hairless parts of their bodies, like around their ears, nose, and their little tummies, where the sun can really blast away and burn them if you aren’t careful. So just covering your little dog up with a little dog fashion can be very practical in the summer sun, it you’re talking about dog clothing that’s light and breathes well.

Normally, pet outfits are the subject of jokes among non-dog owners who don’t get it and know what it’s about. But when it comes to my dogs’ health, I really don’t have any problem dressing up my chihuahua pups in doggy cloths, and even my little foster poodles in chihuahua outfits. When it comes to their health, I don’t care what anybody thinks: I’m going to take care of my dogs.

But obviously most people do care about how their dogs look when dressed in their tiny pet cloths, and so I definitely do make an effort to bring only the best small dog clothes to the Chihuahua Store. I know that, at least among the dog lovers I spend time around, people who are into dog clothes are usually more fashion and style oriented people, who care about the appearance of their dogs and want them to look as cool and hip as possible in their little dog pants and dog shirts and dog sweaters that they wear. I’m the same way, of course, so I put a lot of effort into deciding what clothes come in to the store, and which small dog garments will stay in the other stores online.

I’ve been getting excited, watching the new dog accessories come in to the Chihuahua Clothes Store lately! I always get a little bit of a high whenever we get new chihuahua product, and it was no exception this week with the new dog apparel. I’ve been watching some of my favorite other stores online like GW Little bring in new dog beds and dog backpacks and dog toys this week, but I’ve been focusing on dog clothes for chihuahuas and other small dogs, and I’m really liking what I see at the Chihuahua Shop with the stylish dog clothing on the shelves right now.

Chihuahua clothes have been a passion of mine since I last moved to a new country, met someone, and became the joint owner of two chihuahuas. The clothes are fun, they’re cute, they help my dogs out by keeping them warm. But it’s fun when you get to take your dog’s appearance to the next level with dog accessories like jewelry and collar charms. It can really be a lot of fun!

And then, when you top off the whole small dog experience with custom luxury dog bowls for the house and doggy leashes and dog harnesses for when you walk your little chihuahua each day, it immerses you and your little dog even more in the world of chihuahua fashion, and it can be a blast. I love going into that world of the luxury pet owner (even without spending a fortune on doggy accessories–just with a few choice items I like) and sharing that whole fantasy experience with my dogs. It’s a very enjoyable thing for me, if I’m honest

I like walking through the house, looking through the glass door and seeing my chihuahuas’ little dog houses, and I like carrying them in their little dog carriers when I can’t take them with me on a leash when I’m moving through buildings, downtown during the day. Sometimes it’s one of those days when I am going to take my chihuahuas in their chihuahua clothes and wearing their dog accessories with me, everywhere I go, and I need these things. Sometimes it’s just one of those days.

Pug clothing has got to be one of the cutest inventions I have ever seen. Anybody with eyes who has ever owned a pug knows what I mean when I say that these little smushed-in face, wrinkly, burly cuddle-beasts are freaking adorable already, without the aid of any clothes for pugs. But you combine the two, and you’re off to the races with one of the cutest K-9 fashion combos I think you’ll ever see.

They are so cute, in fact, that I’ve been adding pug clothes to the Chihuahua Shop for a while now. Initially, the store began as a hobby project of mine to bring the best dog fashion to small dogs and their owners, but the clothing manufacturers actually make most of their dog clothes in bigger sizes too, for dogs like pitbulls, rotweilers, and yes: pugs too! So I continue to brand the store as the “Chihuahua Shop”, but we actually carry clothing for all sizes of dogs, and some of my pug-owing friends have been commenting on how much they love their new pug fashion from the store, which is pretty cool!

One of my Pug owner neighbords picked up a few pug T-shirts and a stylish pug jacket for her darling “Puggly Poo”, haha! (I can’t help but bust up laughing whenever I hear here squeeling with delight over “sir Puggly Poo’s fashion feast”–her way of describing her pug’s wardrobe.) I have a few friends here in this chihuahua clothes Mecca that is the Mexican town of Sayulita (where they filmed part of the movie “Beverly Hills Chihuahua”) who can’t get over who cute this dog looks in his new little pug biker jacket! I’ve been wanting to bring a biker line of clothing to the chihuahua store for a while now, and it’s exciting to see so many owners who ride and who are passionate about their pugs and the clothes they wear. It’s so freaking exciting to be a part of this community!

Of course, I’ve been seeing a lot of pet carriers and other pug merchandise go at the store, shipping out to mostly Americans and Brits who want to gear up for their summer getways with their adorable doggies. Of all the customers who come through the Chihuahua Shop, pug owners are some of the nicest folks: they email you pictures later on of their little dogs wearing their little pug brand clothes and other pet clothing favorites. Like I said, dog clothes seldom have a more insanely adorable K-9 companion than when they’re paired with a pug, and I don’t think it’s hard to see why:
