Of course, a lot of chihuahua owners will pick out little raincoats for dogs and the other usual cheap dog clothes that we all love and know. These are the practical outfits we use to keep our chiwawa pups warm and dry and cozy when the weather to crap and it’s time to walk our chihuahuas. We dress them out in their cool chihuahua sweaters and their little chihuahua outfit, and we get used to seeing dogs in clothes: it becomes a regular part of our world.

But when you come across a chihuahua dressed up in these extravagant accessories for little dogs, it can really make you stop and think “…wow!” Chihuahuas wearing hats for dogs, chihuahuas wearing sparkling socks for dogs, chihuahuas wearing haute couture chihuahua costumes: these are not every day experiences for most people–even seasoned chihuahua fashion addicts!

My friend’s dog was wearing one of her dog sweatshirts and had a dog collar tag and a tiny little dog tiara from dog accessories UK–or some similar brand: I can’t quite remember. But it was amazing. And the conversations it sparked at this little gathering were numerous! Teacup chihuahuas are cute alone, without dog clothes! But wearing these chihuahua accessories with her tiny dog outfit… I can’t emphasize what an impact it made. It was like walking into a Dali painting or something and seeing the manifestation of luxury in the tiny, bite-size, chihuahua form! Ohh! She was incredibly cute, even for the standards we are used to as chihuahua owners who dress our little doggies in xxs dog clothes–even for what I am used to as the owner of a chihuahua clothes shop. I was impressed.

A dog wearing a dog outfit is nothing special. There’s nothing new to be seen–though they are irresistibly cute–in a chihuahua dressed in different puppy sweaters for chihuahuas each day. You will see the usual fare of chihuahua t-shirts and little dog sweaters on a little dog, and you will smile. But that dog probably will not blow you away the way this little dog with her pet accessories did me. Chihuahua accessories on a little dog seem to give it that little something extra–that X-factor–that just makes them stand out from the rest, grab your attention, and make them hard to forget. Dog clothes are everywhere today, and whether you’re into chihuahua dog clothes or you’re more a cute dog clothes shopper, it’s these stylish dog clothes that dog owners are flocking to today. My neighbors, and all the pet owners of the little beach town I live in today is going gaga when they shop dog clothes online, and I’m lucky enough to get to see all this chihuahua clothing and these funky dog clothes on their little pets all the time!

I think we have to respect their doggie clothes opinion, because not all of use have seen dog dresses and dog coats used in the same way. I know I have personally seen small dogs wearing heavy, thick dog clothes in the middle of the searing summer, when they’re out in the summer sun and the heat is bearing down on their and their small dog clothes, and that’s not at all cool in my books.

I think this goes without saying, but in terms of dog outfits, you have to use common sense with these little dog clothes, and dog clothing for all breeds of pet dogs. Dog bags for small dogs are a bit of a passion for mine, and as a chihuahua clothes enthusiast who has his own little Chihuahua Shop boutique, I thought it would be fun to bring some of the latest small dog bags over to the store! My dog lover friends who have smaller dogs like chihuahuas and yorkies and Maltese pups are always talking about how much fun it is to take your little dog around with you in small bags for dogs that look like the latest fashion bags from Louis Vuitton and the like, and while I’m not much of a murse kinda guy myself, I can appreciate why so many of my friends love these small dog carriers!

I get to see a great many dog bags for small dogs each week when I visit the various small dog clothing hot spots, here in the bay. I’ve been seeing a lot of teacup chihuahuas dressed up in teacup chihuahua clothes lately. The seaside town I live in is already abundant with dog owners who love chihuahuas, but it seems that nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, and now more chihuahua owners are moving in. The small dog clothes at the Chihuahua Shop are perfect for these little buggers, as we carry an extra super small size for these tiny teacup chihauhua dogs who have owners who need to dress them up in their adorable chihuahua clothes on a daily basis!

Take this little teacup chihuahua for example:

Now, he’s pretty cute on his own, but even with some cheap teacup chihuahua clothes, he would look WAY cuter! Throw in some little dog accessories, maybe a few chihuahua dog dresses, and then a cute chihuahua costume that makes him look like a little lady bug or something wildly irresistible like that and I don’t think anyone with a camera who likes little dogs would be able to unglue their camera lens from your dog and their finger from the shutter button! Seriously, you would have a chihuahua fashion cuteness overload problem on your hands!

Just on a boat ride the other day to this little rock island where there’s some good scuba diving around where I live, there was this guy in the boat with a teacup chihuahua that was wearing this floral dog dress set that was almost too much. It was part Hawaiian shit, part ball down, and this little long haired teacup chihuahua looked so comfortable and at-ease and relaxed in her little dress set, as the boat rocked up and down over the crashing waves! It was surreal!

Then, when we got to this rock island, there was another person I’ve seen shopping at the Chihuahua Shop who had her teacup out with her, wearing this designer pink and white dress set that looked perfect for the part of the doting little pet, following her master back and forth on the little island of rocks. She was too cute!

Chihuahua clothing like this, when it’s worn by a micro teacup chihuahua, is almost dangerous because of how fragile these dogs can be and how much attention they attract from strangers. Especially kids here in Mexico, in a culture where dogs aren’t normally regarded in the same manner that we do in the US or in Europe or Thailand or the other parts of the planet that have a more humane mindset when it comes to dogs (of which there are many–I know–but I can only list so many ) the kids like to just grab whatever passes in front of them, and if they’ve seen their dad kick the dog at home one too many times, they’ll often try to do the same. It’s really not a good place to be a dog, down here in this country, unless they’re living with the right owner and taken care of!

Anyway, dressing your teacup chiwawa up in dog clothes, even when you’re in Mexico, isn’t usually a problem. In my travels as a chihuahua clothes enthusiast, I’ve come across many dog boutiques that sell small dog clothing that ranges from the designer pet fashion that costs thousands of dollars per outfit, to the bargain basement-type cheap chihuahua clothing shops that typically try to sell thinly woven, poorly made clothing for chihuahuas and yorkies and other small breeds that fall apart within a few weeks, in my experience.

Seeing some of the new luxury small dog accessories at the Chihuahua Clothes Store reminds me of of an experience I had last year as a very excited small dog owner who had the chance to shop Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive for Chihuahua clothing and accessories for my little dogs back at home. I was on my way to Thailand for a few months and had a day-long stopover in L.A., so I raced out of the airport, into a cab, and my friend an I hauled ass over to the small dog fashion mecca of Beverly Hills for an afternoon!

The whole small dog accessory shopping experience reminded me a lot of Chloe’s experience at the start of Beverly Hills Chihuahua, in all seriousness. There were a lot of designer collars for small dogs and little dog booties and these customizable rhinestone dog collars in the windows of all these little pet fashion boutiques along the rich streets of The Hills. I’d seen dog accessories before when shopping for my chihuahua dogs and my other smaller foster dogs, but this was a pet shopping experience on steroids.

There were puppy accessories costing in excess of $1000 a pop, for a diamond studded chihuahua collar charm. There were puppy supplies from luxury labels like Gucci and Chanel, their luxury small dog carrier handbags that would open up on the end to let your little dog in and out. It’s insane what you can find in the way of little dog accessories when you’re in this part of Los Angeles!

There were even small dog clothes woven with cashmere–I have never seen chihuahua outfits so nice. Seeing the rest of the accessories for dogs, the little bling chihuahua accessories and the custom dog collars like we actually carry here at the Chihuahua Shop–it almost made me dizzy, thinking of all the fashion possibilities for dressing up my little doggies back at home!

I’ve been getting excited, watching the new dog accessories come in to the Chihuahua Clothes Store lately! I always get a little bit of a high whenever we get new chihuahua product, and it was no exception this week with the new dog apparel. I’ve been watching some of my favorite other stores online like GW Little bring in new dog beds and dog backpacks and dog toys this week, but I’ve been focusing on dog clothes for chihuahuas and other small dogs, and I’m really liking what I see at the Chihuahua Shop with the stylish dog clothing on the shelves right now.

Chihuahua clothes have been a passion of mine since I last moved to a new country, met someone, and became the joint owner of two chihuahuas. The clothes are fun, they’re cute, they help my dogs out by keeping them warm. But it’s fun when you get to take your dog’s appearance to the next level with dog accessories like jewelry and collar charms. It can really be a lot of fun!

And then, when you top off the whole small dog experience with custom luxury dog bowls for the house and doggy leashes and dog harnesses for when you walk your little chihuahua each day, it immerses you and your little dog even more in the world of chihuahua fashion, and it can be a blast. Sometimes it’s one of those days when I am going to take my chihuahuas in their chihuahua clothes and wearing their dog accessories with me, everywhere I go, and I need these things. Sometimes it’s just one of those days.

I have a confession: ever since I got my first two chihuahuas years ago, I’ve been slightly obsessed with chihuahua apparel. Maybe it’s all the comments your little dogs get when they’re wearing small dog clothes, or perhaps it’s the way chihuahua clothes make your little doggie’s face look even more adorable when its peering out of a little chihuahua costume… I don’t know what it is exactly, but it was enough to make me start the Chihuahua Shop a little while ago so I could help other fashion passionate owners of small dogs find some of the best apparel for chihuahuas on the planet.

In the past few years, I have seen my fair share of dog T-shirts and dog sweaters for chihuahuas. I’ve been noticing a lot of people are really liking the chihuahua princess dress this spring and now into to the summer. It seems that the Brits want to have their afternoon tea party with their chihuahuas and other small dogs in their UK homes (and tower castles), and the Americans are enjoying their Sunday afternoon picnics at the dog park with their pet fashion friends, which I think is very cool. Any time you can spend time with friends, in nature, with a fashion focus; that is chihuahuatastic! Haha!
