Dog Pants for Chihuahuas

I never knew much about dog pants until I started the Chihuahua Shop, even as a chihuahua clothes fanatic. Chihuahua pants were never part of the chihuahua dog fashion outfits my dogs wore. But as my chihuahua costume expert friend here in town informs me, pants for small dogs are very important in completing the look of your chihuahua and making the outfit look how it’s “supposed to.”

I told my friend that if my “supposed to,” he means that these dog pants and dog shorts are supposed to make my chihuahuas look hilarious, that I completely agree with her! When I dress Namaste the chihuahua in chihuahua shorts, I have to hold back from bursting out laughing because when she wears these little shorts for small dogs, it makes her look like a chihuahua carnival worker! Haha, it’s too much for me!

But even in the face of my ridicule, my friend asserts that pants for dogs are very in vogue right now in the chihuahua clothes world, and that chihuahua doggie pants now have designer labels making different cuts of designer dog pants and doggie shorts for the super upscale dogs in Beverly Hills that are living the life of luxury and complete pampering.

I’ve discussed this issue of doggie pants with a few other friends who have chihuahuas and types of toy breed dogs, and they agree that the chihuahua dog jeans and chihuahua skirts can look pretty ridiculous when they’re paired with the wrong small dog outfit, but that some chihuahua costumes really do call for a pair of chihuahua dog pants to make them look proper and not like your little dog is naked and running around streaking, with a formal looking shirt on and no pants.

To that, I have to concede the point, because they have one there. And so if you’re dog is running around without his chihuahua pants on and he looks like he’s streaking, lol, then you can solve this problem by heading over to the Chihuahua Shop and having a look at the new very high quality dog pants we are now selling. Chihuahua Fashion Dogs In The Heat

If you pay attention to the fashion dogs you see all over the place in the dog fashion magazines and the fashion TV shows for dogs, you’ll probably notice as I have that the number of chihuahua and small breed dog owners who want their little chihuahuas to look like devilishly cute fashion divas in their fancy chihuahua clothing is exploding right now.

It’s a major emerging trend, having a chihuahua fashion dog walking beside you on a leash or tucked under your arm as you walk through the busy mall of a major cosmopolitan city, today, and it’s probably due in part to the ever-increasing popularity of the chihuahua clothes that owners of these little guys are flocking to in droves right now. These little fashion chihuahua doggies seem to be coming out of the woodwork where I live, and it’s almost freaking me out a bit!

Now, the Chihuahua Shop carries a lot of small dog fashion clothes for giving your chihuahua pup that injection of extra chihuahua style. Whereas some owners will be watching those fashion show dogs strutting their stuff in their chihuahua clothes down the runway on television, others will have their chihuahua dogs all spiffed up in chihuahua fashion dogs outfits there, right in front of them, with their little chi prancing around and ready to make it big in the Broadway spotlight with the right training. These are the people who take fashionable dogs seriously and buy all the fashion dog accessories they can find for their chihuahuas and their yorkies and their Maltese pups, and if anyone is going to be famous in the land of chihuahuas and these other small breed dogs, it’s them.

But lately, I’ve been spotting a few chihuahua clothes fashion fanatics who could almost be said to be taking the whole fashionable dogs thing a little too far. Down here in the Puerto Vallarta area of Mexico where I’m living right now, it’s bloody hot, and it’s not usually the type of climate you’ll want to dress your chihuahua up in any sort of seriously heavy chihuahua clothing if you can help it. Where you’ll see a lot of people getting their chihuahua fashion dogs fix is indoors, in the heavily air conditioned rooms where their chihuahuas are down on the floor, in their little chihuahua dog beds, resting and inactive, and otherwise shivering and shaking to death without their little dog fashion outfits on their back. You don’t see a lot a chihuahuas wearing their chihuahua sweaters outside in the heat, and thank god!–except for lately, perhaps with the increasing popularity of the Beverly Hills Chihuahua scene in Puerto Vallarta, I’m seeing chihuahuas dressed up in layers of fashion forward chihuahuas clothing, and it’s crazy!

I’ve seen at least five different chihuahuas dressed up in three or more layers of chihuahua clothes in the past week alone, and while I am fully a fan of dog fashion, when you’re layering clothes over clothes with chihuahua accessories on your little dog like this in the heat, when it’s an oven outside right now, this August of 2011, that’s really pushing the boundaries of what’s considered humane treatment of an animal if you ask me! I know they mean well, but these little hairy chihuahua buggers have it rough in the heat like this without all that insulating fashion dogs clothing covering them up!

So please, if you’re going to make your chihuahua into a fashion dog with his little chihuahua clothes, do so responsibly! I know you, as someone who reads this chihuahua fashion blog, would not make this mistake, but if you see anyone who’s really pushing it with too much fashion dog accessories and clothing on their dogs this summer, ask them what on Earth they’re doing 🙂

Socks for Dogs Like Chihuahuas

If you’re a chihuahua owner or you have another breed of small dog, you’ve probably noticed the little socks for dogs at the various chihuahua shops online–especially if you like dressing your chihuahuas in clothes. I’ve been seeing these chihuahua socks everywhere lately, with the online pet shops selling socks for small dogs and this whole array of chihuahua dog footwear. It seemed a little crazy to me at first, but thinking about it changed my mind, and I decided to see if we could find some quality ones for the Chihuahua Clothes Shop, and we now have some pretty freaking cool little chihuahua socks for dogs you can check out at the Shop.

Like I said, I thought it was a bit ridiculous at first: “socks for chihuahua doggies? What the heck? Why?” But thinking back about all the times my chihuahuas has gotten something stuck in their paw pads and been licking away at their paws to heal a small wound or a scratch to the pad, after walking on the paved sidewalks for too long, or across the gravel roads with all those tiny little pebbles that get stuck in their little chihuahua paws, it became obvious: these little chihuahua dog socks I’m seeing everywhere in the boutiques today could actually be useful.

Even living here in this heavily chihuahua populated beach town on the Pacific coast, I like to get up early and walk my little dogs along the beach and enjoy the gorgeous morning view of the bay, but often at the end of the walk, when the sun is out in force and its rays are beating down on the sand, those little grains of sand can get scorching hot and it isn’t too comfortable to walk on bare foot, like my dogs do.

visit the chihuahua clothes shopLuckily for us, the water is right there, so we can just walk through the shallow surf for a minute to cool our feet off, but with a pair of chihuahua puppy socks, this wouldn’t even be necessary: to clothe chihuahuas in their socks would eliminate the need to do this and would keep their little paws protected from the extreme heat, and I’m sure they’d like that!

I’ve even run into yorkies wearing socks on their walks with their owners, recently. Talking to their owners, they use this little dog socks to to keep their pet’s paws clean, so they don’t have to wash them extensively after each excursion into the jungle here in our back yard. Especially when you live in a rainforest jungle and it’s the rainy season and it rains almost every single day for hours, things can get rather muddy around here, and it can really be a pain in the ass to have constantly wash your dogs feet after every walk so you don’t end up with little black and brown paw marks all over your floor and your sofa and on the bed! So I can totally see using chihuahua socks on my little dogs along with their chihuahua clothes.

And having lived in Canada with my chihuahuas, I’ve noticed that most of the pets like the chihuahua rescue dogs we’ve brought up from Mexico do well in the cold, with the exception of their feet: they start walking on the ice and visit the chihuahua clothes shopthrough the snow and their reaction is like “aaa-ughh. No way; this is too freaking cold! ouch!” and it takes them months to adapt with the chihuahua booties and the little dog socks that you have to use in order to get them used to the cooler weather. Over time, their bodies adapt and you’ll see their paws grow this hair in between each pad to keep their feet warm and keep the snow from getting in between each of their paw pads. But in the beginning, the chihuahuas definitely were in need of their warm chihuahua socks!

Chihuahua Dress

Hello again! It’s Namaste the chihuahua! Mikey has stepped out for a break from work and I’m going to pounce on this opportunity to tell about the chihuahua dress selection at the Chihuahua Clothes Shop right now! They have a sale running right now on these dressy chihuahua outfits, and if you have a chihuahua doggie like me you enjoy dressing up, you might want to check it out!

My owner Mikey has bought me a lot of different chihuahua dresses over the past year, and probably my two favorites have been my little chihuahua ball gown and my chihuahua skirt. These are simple little chihuahua clothing dresses that make me feel like a little cute cupcake who’s about to dine with a queen and sip tea over croissants in a royal palace! Oh, I get so excited just thinking about it! WOOooo!

Talking with my chihuahua friends here in town, we concur that small dog dresses like these are so fantastic and make us feel so good when our owners take care of us and look after us and care enough about us to dress us in one of these beautiful chihuahua dress outfits! There are formal chihuahua clothes like these that the lucky chihuahua dogs of the rich and famous get to wear on a regular basis, but most of us little doggies in our little “Dog Land” don’t have the privilege of donning these special dresses for chiwawa pups, and so when we do get to wear them, it’s truly a special occasion for us!

Mikey is always telling me how dresses for chihuahuas these days often come designed with a little harness loop built into the back of the outfit, so that owners can simply grab their chihuahua lead and clip it on to the back of the dress and away we go on our walk with you! The innovations in little dog dress fashion design never ceases to amaze me! I used to watch the little toy doggie walking the catwalk (or is it the dogwalk?) ont the fashion chihuahua dress shows, where the chi owners walk with their gorgeously dressed little dogs down the runway and the chihuahuas are all dressed up in expensive chihuahua accessories like diamond necklaces for little dogs and the like, and I would feel so jealous that I never had the opportunity to do the same!

Teacup Chihuahua Clothes

I’ve been seeing a lot of teacup chihuahuas dressed up in teacup chihuahua clothes lately. The seaside town I live in is already abundant with dog owners who love chihuahuas, but it seems that nothing attracts a crowd like a crowd, and now more chihuahua owners are moving in. The small dog clothes at the Chihuahua Shop are perfect for these little buggers, as we carry an extra super small size for these tiny teacup chihauhua dogs who have owners who need to dress them up in their adorable chihuahua clothes on a daily basis!

Take this little teacup chihuahua for example:

Now, he’s pretty cute on his own, but even with some cheap teacup chihuahua clothes, he would look WAY cuter! Throw in some little dog accessories, maybe a few chihuahua dog dresses, and then a cute chihuahua costume that makes him look like a little lady bug or something wildly irresistible like that and I don’t think anyone with a camera who likes little dogs would be able to unglue their camera lens from your dog and their finger from the shutter button! Seriously, you would have a chihuahua fashion cuteness overload problem on your hands!

Just on a boat ride the other day to this little rock island where there’s some good scuba diving around where I live, there was this guy in the boat with a teacup chihuahua that was wearing this floral dog dress set that was almost too much. It was part Hawaiian shit, part ball down, and this little long haired teacup chihuahua looked so comfortable and at-ease and relaxed in her little dress set, as the boat rocked up and down over the crashing waves! It was surreal!

Then, when we got to this rock island, there was another person I’ve seen shopping at the Chihuahua Shop who had her teacup out with her, wearing this designer pink and white dress set that looked perfect for the part of the doting little pet, following her master back and forth on the little island of rocks. She was too cute!

Chihuahua clothing like this, when it’s worn by a micro teacup chihuahua, is almost dangerous because of how fragile these dogs can be and how much attention they attract from strangers. Especially kids here in Mexico, in a culture where dogs aren’t normally regarded in the same manner that we do in the US or in Europe or Thailand or the other parts of the planet that have a more humane mindset when it comes to dogs (of which there are many–I know–but I can only list so many 🙂 ) the kids like to just grab whatever passes in front of them, and if they’ve seen their dad kick the dog at home one too many times, they’ll often try to do the same. It’s really not a good place to be a dog, down here in this country, unless they’re living with the right owner and taken care of!

Anyway, dressing your teacup chiwawa up in dog clothes, even when you’re in Mexico, isn’t usually a problem. On the more practical side, most teacup owners I know own at least a few teacup chihuahua sweaters for their little pup. These tiny dogs tend to get cold very easily and can often use that extra layer of “fur” to help them stay warm when it cools off for whatever reason.
